After retiring from Sheridan College as their Dean of Arts, Don returned to his passion of capturing the Canadian landscape in oil, brush and knife. Focussing on Ontario’s northland and Quebec’s Gatineau region he has spent the last 20 years sketching in and around Algonquin Park, Muskoka, the Ottawa Valley, the Gatineau Region and anywhere the scene urges him to paint. His studios are in Burlington, Ontario and Lac Ste. Marie in the Gatineau region.
Quote: Rob Cowley, President, Senior Canadian Art Specialist, Cowley Abbott. “Don’s landscapes immediately capture and transport the viewer to the varied environments that he effortlessly captures. Don’s passion for this art form and life shine through his fantastic work.”
Don’s work is characterized as Canadian impressionist using oil on canvas and hardwood using brush and knife in an impasto approach. The colour and texture of Autumn colours are the mainstay of his work. He is a member of the Ontario Plein Air Society among others.
