08 Spalted Sugar Maple Bowl with Bark
James Pook
Maple is Canada’s national tree. Spalting is a form of wood colouration (e.g., black and brown lines) caused by fungi and is characteristic of the initial stages of decay. The irregular edge is exposed bark and old worm holes are visible. Each wood turned item is hand sanded and sealed with a food-grade, highly durable gloss finish.
